History & heritage
Graubünden grew from the Three Leagues, an alliance of the Rhaetian Alps allied with the Confederation since the 15th century. It became a canton in 1803.
The largest canton is the only trilingual one — German, Romansh and Italian — and home to St. Moritz, Davos and the UNESCO-listed Rhaetian Railway.
