Child allowances
- Federal minimum: CHF 215 per child per month; CHF 268 for training allowances (from 16).
- Many cantons pay more; claim through your employer or the family allowance fund.
Childcare
- Register early — waiting lists for Kita places can be long.
- Many municipalities subsidise fees based on income.
- Childcare costs are tax-deductible (capped).
Parental leave
- Maternity: 14 weeks at 80% pay (max daily amount applies).
- Other parent: 2 weeks within 6 months after the birth.
